Webinar – Outreach to Families Who Need the Child Tax Credit

|

The expanded Child Tax Credit could cut childhood poverty in half. But only families who file with the IRS get the money. HELP FIND THEM!!

The stimulus legislation to help the American economy recover from COVID-19 contains newly generous child tax credits. American families will receive
• $300/month for children 5 and under and
• $250/month for children 6-17.

The money will be deposited by the IRS into the bank accounts of families known to the IRS. About one third of families living in poverty have income so low that they are not required to file income tax. The IRS in unable to get their money to them unless they file. In Rochester, that’s about 3,500-4,000 very poor families.

In Rochester, the CASH program (Creating Assets, Savings and Hope) of the Empire Justice Center has volunteers ready to help families navigate the IRS portal to get their Child Tax Credit. But most of the families likely don’t know about its availability. Who will find them and tell them?

Join our webinar and learn more about the CTC and how you can help Find the Families. We will hear from the CASH program about the CTC and the help available to families who need to file with the IRS to get it. We will have other guests ready to brainstorm on building a coalition to Find the Families.

Join our webinar, July 14, 7pm.
