On 6/17/2025, the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced the release of the updated Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) Data Standards, Version 1.7. The Standards were updated to be in compliance with the Administration’s Executive Orders. The FY 2024 Standards went into effect on October 1, 2023, and therefore, the updated FY 2024 HMIS Data Standards are effective immediately. HMIS software (applications) will not be updated until the FY 2026 HMIS Data Standards go into effect, which is expected to be on October 1, 2025.
