Join the Network on Thursday, September 11th from 10:00-11:00AM for a NetWorkshop with Paige Bellenbaum Consulting: Understanding Maternal Mental Health: Common Signs, Symptoms and Resources.
Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs) are the number one complication associated with childbirth and one of the leading causes of maternal death in the United States. With 1 in 5 new and expecting mothers/birthing people experiencing a PMAD and 75% of all cases going undetected and untreated, there is a dire need for providers who work with perinatal people to be aware of these conditions. PMADs are distinctive illnesses that occur during pregnancy and postpartum, thus requiring a specific understanding of warning signs and ways to appropriately connect clients to support and treatment.
This workshop will cover the following:
- The different types of Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders
- The prevalence of PMADs
- PMAD risk factors
- Risks associated with untreated PMADs for mother and baby
- PMAD signs and symptoms
- PMAD education, screening, and treatment best practices
- Local and national PMAD resources
