Virtual training – Trauma-Informed Approaches to Working with Religious Diversity, Dec. 16, noon to 1 p.m.

|

OMH is offering a free Lunch and Learn training session on Trauma-Informed Approaches to Working with Religious Diversity from noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16.

This session introduces trauma-informed approaches to working with religious diversity in practice. Participants will explore how clients relate to religion and spirituality in diverse ways, including both sources of healing and histories of harm. The training will offer guidance on how to ask about spiritual or religious practices during assessment and integrate this information respectfully into treatment planning. We will also examine how personal biases can shape practice. By strengthening self-awareness and cultural humility, you will be better equipped to create spaces for discussing religious diversity and spirituality.

Registration is required. Included below is the registration link.

This session is offered by the OMH Planning Office, Workforce Development Unit and is funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration Center for Mental Health Services, which created the Transformation Transfer Initiative in a continued effort to assist states in improving their mental health systems of care.

The TTI provides, on a competitive basis, modest funding awards and intensive technical assistance to states, the District of Columbia, and the territories to identify, adopt, and strengthen innovative initiatives to better serve children and youth with Serious Emotional Disturbance and adults with Serious Mental Illness.
