Financial Assistance Available for Homeowners and Landlords

The Homeowner Assistance Fund (HAF) is for homeowners (not landlords) who experienced a financial hardship due to Covid-19. The funds can be used to bring mortgage payments current, pay property taxes and HOA fees. The maximum amount of the grant is $50K. The program starts January 3rd and is accepting applications for 30 days. The homeowner can apply thru the online portal, by phone or contacting a housing counseling agency such as The Housing Council at Pathstone. Landlord Ambassador Extension Program (LAEP). Provides funding to stabilize rental properties and prevent evictions for landlords who own 9 or less units that are located in the City of Rochester:
• Vacant Unit Program- Can be used to reimburse a landlord with funds up to $5k to make repairs and do maintenance on a vacant property.
• Code Violation Program- The program will pay for repairs up to $15K per unit for properties with open code violations.
• Eviction Prevention Program- Can assist landlords with delinquent rent, mortgage payments and property tax payments up to $15K/unit
